If concern was established in 1999 by joining together the Scandinavian companies Skandia and Storebrand. In February 2002, Sampo P&C joined to the concern. Presently, more than 8000 employees are working in the concern, providing service for more than 3,5 mil. clients.
In the Latvian market, If Latvia started its business already in 1998 as Sampo group company, at that time working under the name of Sampo Latvija.
As in 2001 the Sampo concern joined together its non life insurance transactions with If, Sampo Latvija became If concern company and changed the name to If Latvia.
Today If offers full range of risk insurance services both, for companies and private persons in all Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
Currently, there are 139 employees; customer service centres are in Riga, Valmiera, Liepāja and Jelgava.
